My golf friends tease me, but I only use an unbroken tee with my driver. For all my other shots, including 3 wood, I grab broken tees I find on the tee box, just enough to keep the ball off the ground. Am I the odd one here? I get frustrated when I can’t find a broken tee.
I saw a pro do that at a major tournament. My first thought was, ‘Can’t you afford a tee?’ Having said that, I always do that.

Not weird. Maybe a bit of a cheapskate. A lifetime supply is just a few bucks, and you probably spent at least $50 for the round.

I’m not rich. Or have many tees. The only club I use my own tees for is my driver, because I use Martinis. I don’t need any extra variables messing with my drives, and I’ve had six for about a year.

I might be stranger. I’m an eagle-eye for this one specific type of common plastic tee. I briefly check every tee box to see if I can pick one up. Let’s say I find 50 in a year. That means I saved about ten bucks? I don’t know. It feels like they’re more valuable than gold for some reason.

I’m lucky enough to have a hole-in-one, and I used the first broken tee I found while walking up to the tee box. Ever since then, if I’m not using my driver, I use the first broken tee I see. Even if there’s a better one on the ground, I always stick with the first I find.

I usually start with one or two tees in my pocket and end up with 6-10 by the end. I can’t understand why anyone would buy tees.

I do this; I usually play at a local course, and everyone leaves their nubs around. It’s mostly a par three course, so it works out well.

This is fine. I buy plastic tees that don’t break, as I find them a bit easier to use than a broken tee. There’s certainly nothing wrong with using broken tees depending on how high you like to tee up fairway woods, hybrids, and irons.

I try to balance my Pro V1s on a broken tee I find on the ground to avoid buying more at the store, and then I will send that same ball into the next galaxy. Yeah, it’s normal.

I do it for pre-shot luck… Sometimes it works, most times it doesn’t.

Wait, so this is why my driver shots are all over the place?

0% chance I’m putting a fresh new tee into the ground when there are 50 broken ones right at my feet that will work just fine.
