Do you also use broken tees

My golf friends tease me, but I only use an unbroken tee with my driver. For all my other shots, including 3 wood, I grab broken tees I find on the tee box, just enough to keep the ball off the ground. Am I the odd one here? I get frustrated when I can’t find a broken tee.

That feels pretty normal to me

Thanks for agreeing with me. I usually take the free tees from the course or broken ones.

I can’t stand putting a full 2.75" tee into the ground. I just refuse to do it. On a par 3, I’ll look until I find a broken tee. No exceptions.

I have a small bag of lousy wooden tees I got when I bought some used balls once. I use them if I can’t find a broken one on a par 3. My friends think it’s funny because I take these bad tees, snap them in half, and hit. I like to think I’m being nice by leaving a broken tee for the next player.

On a par 3, I just hit with my 7 iron off the grass.

Even if you’re an amazing player, you might want to try teeing it up. It’s the only chance you get to do so, so you should take it.

As if I can hit a ball off a tee with an iron. I’m not showing off with this comment. I just can’t do it. I can only hit irons off the grass. The one par 3 at my course, I actually use my pitching wedge or 9 iron, and I can reliably hit the green that way. It’s a short par 3. The other one, I usually use my 6 iron and either land on the green or have to pitch on. The other course I play in a league, I use the 7 iron for both par 3 holes. One of them goes over water, so sometimes I use the 6 iron if my 7 iron falls short or there’s a strong wind. I’ve only hit that green twice, and it’s not really about distance but more about accuracy.

I was going to mention that I also play golf.

Nice try, MLN’s alternate account!

I think it’s completely normal. But in a tournament, it might be against the rules since you’d technically be playing with someone else’s equipment, and I’m pretty sure that violates some rule somewhere.

You’re mistaken, and you should feel embarrassed for being so wrong.

I’m always looking for a broken tee when I’m using an iron off the tee.

Exactly, that way I can leave it there and walk away. I don’t want extra junk in my pocket.

I have a bad back, so I try to limit how often I bend down. I have a ball picker-upper on the back of my putter, I call it my back saver. I’m the one who leaves unbroken tees on the ground. You’re welcome.

I prefer a broken tee on par threes.

Unless you’re at a really bad course, try not to leave them and always take them out. If you don’t, the grass won’t grow back where the tee is left.

I’m the same way but take it a step further. I refuse to use a broken tee that is still in the ground. This happened to me the other day; the only broken tee was in the ground, so I had to use a fresh one and treat it as a stubby.

And here I am, only using a tee with my driver. For every other tee shot, I hit off the ground.

Are you aware he was searching for a chode now?

Nah, I’m part of the broken tee group too.
