The Wonderful Impact of Golf on Mental Health

Bugs or helicopters?

Yeah, if you’re good!

Until you hit that 4-iron fat from 200 yards out and dribble it only 50 yards…

I completely agree. I’ve been on vacation this past week in my hometown and have golfed every day alone. My mental clarity has never been better, and I’m more relaxed than ever. Sure, I’m playing cheap municipal courses for the most part, but just being out there is therapeutic. Plus, competing with myself to beat my previous round has me itching to get back out every day.

Cheaper than therapy too!

Exercise outdoors is like an adult Easter egg hunt. What’s not to like?

It’s wonderful, but it can also be troublesome. Depends on the day.

100%

I didn’t hit the course today, but I decided in the middle of a restless night to hit the range and check on my swing. Lucky me, it wasn’t crowded, and I got some time alone.

Being out in nature and focusing on your body’s movements is one of the best experiences. Despite challenging winds, I managed to control my ball and hit it well, even with my driver I’ve struggled with for a year.

Wonderful for you, perhaps. There are times I’m left feeling mentally broken. I just can’t comprehend scoring in the high 90s when I was sure I’d play well that day.

Best therapy there is, for better or worse!

Especially with the political climate… it’s a game changer.

No snow, but maybe I should have thought about that.

True, but the trees, power lines, houses, AND mountains gave it away… I’m guessing somewhere in Northern CA—OP, care to confirm?

@Westley
Santa Cruz, perhaps?

Honestly, I saw the mountains and power lines and thought it might be Broken Tee, but then remembered it’s snowing right now, haha.

Broken Tee is great; I’ve only played the par 3, but enjoyed it.

@Skyler
The 18 is in great shape during summer, although pretty rough in winter. That course is fantastic! I had the best round of my life there.
