The Wonderful Impact of Golf on Mental Health

I feel like I know this course…OP?

Diablo Hills.

Until you shank five times in a row.

Nothing like getting fresh air and the calm before shanking your ball into the woods and being reminded how messed up everything is.

Gorgeous view, man. I agree. I might leave early this afternoon to hit some balls at the range.

It’s ruined mine :joy:.

Diablo Hills in Walnut Creek, CA? I considered playing there this morning but couldn’t will myself to leave the house. I’ll have to get back out there tomorrow.

You got it!

Literally therapy for me in so many ways. Friends give me odd looks when I say that.

Sometimes good, sometimes bad.

Golf can also ruin your mental state for extended periods.

Lol, I just finished a 9-hole round with my brother before work. Life’s good.

Last month, a buddy hit on a 192-yard par 3 and landed less than 6 inches from the pin. His joy over his first birdie and everyone’s excitement was fantastic. He’s been through a rough patch, and I got him into golf this year to help him cope. After securing a job, he bought a set after borrowing my old ones. Everything’s looking up for him. But let me tell you, golf can be brutal but it’s a fantastic escape.

Oh, it messes with my mental state, alright.

Until you hit one of those wires and start to spiral again…

We got six-plus inches of snow overnight :-/

Until you shoot over 100.

I agree. It can even make a preacher cuss… OHH, you meant that. Yes, it can have that effect too.

My Wednesday men’s league is my meditation. I can forget about work and enjoy golf with friends. I used to get upset if I played poorly, but I don’t care anymore, and my scores have improved.

My stress builds all winter until I can play.

I wanted to get out today to escape current events, but we got 4 inches of snow overnight. Guess I’ll be waiting a few days, at least.
