The G430 3W is my absolute favorite club in my bag besides my 60 degree wedge. An absolute beast. Enjoy your new goodies!!
Made me laugh.
25 HCP, “I historically don’t hit hybrids well.” You don’t say.
Congrats on your Pings.

Lmao yes, in fairness, I historically don’t hit anything well.
I feel you on the driver fitting. I’m a 20 handicap and thought for sure I’d end up in something like a Ping G430 Max or 10K, Qi10 Max, etc., and I couldn’t get spin under control to save my life. We ultimately ended up in the Titleist TSR3 almost as a desperation move to get spin down and lo and behold it ended up being the most controllable, tightest dispersion, and lowest spinning driver of the 17 heads that we tried. After that fitting experience, I don’t think I will ever not get fit because based off of internet reviews I should’ve bought a Ping online and been done with it, but I would’ve never known what I’d have missed out on.
Small sample size can result in some strange outcomes from fittings. The low spin version of most manufacturers’ drivers also tend to be the least forgiving.
I found this really weird,
Random variance probably made you hit the middle more often when swinging the Qi10LS than other drivers. I hope it works out for you, and it might suit your swing well, but if I were fitting a 25 handicapper, a low forgiveness head is the last place I would look for answers. If you swing up on the ball, and you tend to hit near the center of the face a lot, it could be a good fit.
@Kumi
I can’t deny that the driver pick is the one I was most concerned/confused about. I even asked him about it again at the end.
That said, I hit a LOT of shots on a lot of drivers (though, as you said, still a relatively small sample size) and this is what the numbers said. I do tend to hit up on the ball, about 3-4 degrees. I don’t really have a great sense for dispersion across the face.
I’m just gonna keep my fingers crossed, I guess, haha.

Did they send you your stats from the fitting? It would be pretty easy to look at key inputs (like strike location, face direction, path, dynamic loft, and angle of attack) and see if they were better when you swung that driver versus the others.
Good fitters will only compare your good shots from within each equipment configuration, but many bad fitters will just remove any obviously awful mishits and then compare averages.
If you hit 10 different configurations 10 hits each, and they take out 3 mishits, that means you only have 7 data points for comparison.
If you’re the kind of player that only presents a square face half the time and only strikes center a third of the time, then in reality you’re likely to have just 1-2 hits per configuration that are representative of your good strikes.
Now consider what happens if one of those configurations you hit 4 with a good impact location and square face. Suddenly, no matter how bad the configuration matched up with your swing, it’s going to be the best driver for you - according to the fitter.
Good luck; hope it fits you well and you kill it!
@Kumi
I think they’re going to email that to me, yeah. I’m getting more and more nervous that this maybe isn’t the best club for me, but it’s done now so I will have to live with it, and if it truly isn’t a good fit, I will try to sell it and take the hit on a more forgiving one.
Any issues with fatigue on getting a whole bag fit in one session? I want to get fit but don’t know if fatigue at the end of the session will throw off what I’m fit to if that makes sense.

Yeah, I went for a bit over 2 hours and it was starting to get me tired but I managed.
Dude, I feel you on the G430 max. I found a used one on my lunch break one day when I went to the local golf mart and started hitting it in the bay, and by the 7th or 8th ball, I was sold. Bought it as is; the guy had already cut it down before he traded it in, and it’s amazing. Sometimes on 18 hole courses, I won’t even hit the driver; I’ll stick with the 3 wood.
u/flownyc how much $ did you drop on the fitting?
The JPX (non HL) are strong lofted, so don’t go by distance. BUT, they feel amazing. I’m saving for a set right now on the down-low.
Did the same earlier this year. Not my first fitting, but ended up with Cobra Dark Speed driver, Ping 530i irons, Ping 430 7 wood, to go along with already owned Callaway hybrids and 3 wood.
The driver analogy fit me to a tee. I had a TM burner that was okay, just not good, and a couple others that I was sooo inconsistent with. Then the head flew off the TM (totally my fault, angry slams into the ground in frustration…it was used too). My buddy’s son had an old Maverick gathering dust, so he let me have it while my TM was getting a new shaft.
Oh boy, it just clicked: easy swing, easy yards, far fairway finder. It just worked! Made him take $40 for it because I wasn’t giving it back.
Upgraded to a Ping G-30 with the same style/stiffness as the Maverick; couldn’t be happier knowing if the Ping misbehaves I can fall back to the Maverick.
Same here. I’m getting older and wasn’t hitting the ball as far. Went to a driver fitting and was convinced I was getting a G430max. Walked out with a Cobra LTDx LS 9* with a 45 gram Helium shaft. Keeps my spin down while I pick up SS. I picked up like 30 yards. Believe in the fittings.
It would be interesting to see if you can replicate those numbers on a different Trackman. 170 7 iron for a 25 handicap doesn’t sound right. But maybe your handicap will go down.
I got fitted for the JPX923 HM as a 25hcp last year, and my irons are absolutely the best part of my game. My only complaint with them is that sometimes the ball comes off TOO hot and goes 15 yards farther than I expected.
Check in on that 170 7i after the course as I’d be interested in your actual distance.
Love the G430 pick.
Funny. I bought the G425 and cannot hit anything straight or really even in the air. Like I forgot how to use a driver. My old pony was awesome. G425 is my nemesis after 2 years already. If it’s a serious round, it stays in the bag.
