Found at a thrift store today! Debating if I should actually use it or keep it in the box

It’s so cool I kind of want to use it while playing, but it also looks really good in the box… thoughts?

Use it or someone will find it like you did when your grandkid has a yard sale.

Honestly, that’s a great point

If you want to enjoy it on display for a couple of months, set a goal, (clears throat)… a realistic and attainable goal, and reward yourself by using it.

78 was my best round ever! Averaged mid to upper 80s for years. Then came multiple spinal surgeries and some extra weight. Now I’m lucky to keep it under triple digits.

As someone who can’t golf due to spinal issues, I’m excited to go play 120 after surgery!

77 was my best and mid 80s was my average. I still had a Big Bertha driver I could crush. I’m disabled from several chronic health issues and can’t even stand long enough to go to a driving range anymore. I’m not even 40 either. So I get it. I didn’t savor the good old days like I should’ve, but I also didn’t think I’d stop golfing altogether by 30.

I’m 42 and have been struggling with sciatica and knee problems this year. It has made golf so hard on my body. After tons of grinding and practice, I got to where 80 every round was realistic. I hit mid 70s a few times earlier this year and even had one round where I played really well and shot a personal best -1 70. Around the start of July, my sciatica went wild and put me out of commission for nearly a month. I could putt, but it was too much to even try to hit a pitch shot. My first round back I shot a 121 and have struggled through August and September to get back into form. I’m now back to where 80 is possible, but I’m not where I was before. Back problems are a struggle.

My realistic goal is to hit the green from far enough away that I need to use a divot repair tool.

I’m new enough to remember being excited to hit a shot and needing to dig it out of my bag. Half the time now I forget it in my car’s cup holder and just use a tee.

Dude, yeah, like when you get one of those awesome divots that looks cartoonish. That’s a good approach! Possibly with some nice backspin!

Golfers and realistic goals do not pair very well together.

If you use it, I’m going to ask you about playing at Pebble Beach.

Just be ready for that.

I have a made-up story ready about all the places I’ve thrifted shirts from over the years.

You and me both. Almost always, ‘I played it years ago, shot 102, just wish I’d known to appreciate it more at the time.’

I was recently in the area and decided to check out the clubhouse and grounds. Ended up being at the PURE event where champions tour players were paired with junior amateurs. It was free to watch. I got to walk around the course and saw a 17-year-old girl paired with Ernie Els ace hole 17 live. It was awesome. I bought a ball marker and a beanie without shame since I’ll probably never be back on the grounds.
