How do I delete this thread from my mind

Do not sway while swinging, this is such a simple thing people forget

Play the course, don’t play yourself. Treat each hole like a new chapter in a story: when you finish a chapter, don’t look back, just move forward

Picture a dollar bill around a bunker shot. Imagine the ball is in the middle and scoop the whole thing out

Can you explain more? I don’t get it

edit: Sorry for asking

My wife learned the same concept but with a slightly different idea.

Picture your ball in the bunker as if it’s in the center of a dollar bill, lying longways. Your aim is to just scoop that dollar bill out of the sand, so hit an inch or two behind the ball and take a shallow divot, exiting an inch or two in front of it. If done perfectly, your divot matches the shape and size of that imagined dollar bill. The ball in the middle just gets in the way.

Her coach had her literally draw a circle around the ball and then think about removing that circle

@Teal
Thanks for explaining, that’s what I thought they meant but wasn’t sure. I appreciate it

Swing less hard. Let the club do the work and you’ll improve your accuracy. Since I’m making better contact, my distance has not suffered much

I agree! Just relax and it usually goes straight and far

70% rule. If I’m not confident I can hit this shot 7 out of 10 times, it’s not the right shot for me

So should I just not play golf at all

Hey, if in doubt, ask DJ. A little nose candy never hurt anyone, right

Focus on a single shot shape

I agree with that. I rarely try to change my shot. I have a standard draw, and that’s what I aim for every time. This year I’ve played more than 60 rounds and did not once try to hit a fade with any club. For short irons, I play those pretty straight, but I allow for a draw if needed

Don’t think, just hit. You can have a routine, but once you’re over the ball, clear your mind and swing

There’s a difference between shifting your weight and shifting the pressure in your feet.

You can shift your weight a lot while hardly moving your mass if you know the difference

Pick a target far away and aim with your dominant eye. Line up to that spot on the ground where you’re standing. Then play your shot

Rotational sports are all quite similar. I played baseball for 17 years and was always told that baseball and golf swings are opposites. Turns out, the main difference is the weight shift

Others have mentioned this but I’ve started just playing and expecting my shots to land short (anything 100 yards and longer; shorter shots are more feel for me). Look for videos on YouTube discussing how to divide the green into sections based on your distance to the pin if interested. I really enjoy this approach now. It takes away the pressure of always aiming for the hole, and I’ve been scoring better as a result
