Same thing but with robot testing. GAME IMPROVMENT IRONS SUCK. Launch, spin, and dispersion are worse than CB/Blades that are solid constructions. Drop the ego and play traditional lofts.
@Dell
AskGolfNut is also really good. He confirms the same thing. GI irons suck. Horrible dispersion, unreliable spin, and then most of 'em don’t have enough loft for the players they’re aimed at.

I’ve wondered but there’s no way in hell I’m watching a 32-minute video on this lmao. Who has time for that?
Who has time for that?
I watch golf YouTube videos in bed to fall asleep to.
@Aubrey
Recently went to a Mizuno fitting, two heads I tried were the pro 245 and the JPX 925 hot metal pro. My ball striking went to absolute shit that day, which didn’t help. But the few with each head I hit decently brought up similar results. But the bad shots weren’t as bad with the hot metal pro. I’m used to a similar head profile and felt more confident swinging it compared to the 245.
Head shape preference and confidence over the ball can count for a whole lot that the numbers won’t necessarily take into account.
@Aubrey
Super skeptical of this dude’s findings. There is so much data out there for all types of clubs. Once you consider shafts and ball type, these insane generalizations of each club type are just plain wrong.
@Ash
Wrong. Lots of new testing now available on YouTube has shown that players clubs have the least drop-off.
Check out Cool Clubs or AskGolfNut. These guys try and demonstrate it too but their methods aren’t as refined and Cool Clubs has a Robot.
@Lael
Today’s golfer just lists all the robot data and drop-off from off-center and dispersion. Can’t argue with hundreds of swings of a controlled robot with 40-50 different clubs and types. Certain clubs have way more drop-off than others. Especially “hot face” clubs for distance. Not all GI is about distance. First point I disagree with on this post.
@Aubrey
As a 31 cap, I bought players distance, Srixon 585s. I can strike the toe and still get a reasonable ball flight. 2 years later current cap 16 going to sell my 585s and buy ZX7s I want a slimmer iron and don’t care if I lose distance on mishits. I truly don’t feel anything beyond a players distance cavity back is needed for new players.
@Jules
You will lose less distance on mishits with the ZX7. Players irons are more consistent by design. Anything designed for distance makes compromises that the marketing doesn’t want you to know about.
@Aubrey
So I’ve got some RocketBladez now, whatever they are from 2008-ish, maybe, before that I had the Tommy Armor 845s from the early 90’s, but this dickhead dude I played a bunch of Covid golf with let me hit some Taylormade Aero Burner irons, and it felt like, just touching the ball with a slightly thoughtful swing, poorly or not but calculated, and it was some of the best after swing thoughts…
@Aubrey
What happens if I’m shit on all three?

You’ll look cooler carrying blades, just don’t reveal yourself by swinging them.
@Aubrey
Good video. Surprised by how similar GI and blades were with mishits.

Surprise!!! But blades are generally better than GI on mishits. Lots of new testing is revealing that the marketing was a myth. Check out cool clubs for robot testing, AskGolfNut, or these guys.
@Lael
I’d love a link to the robot testing cool clubs vid, if you would. Sounds shocking.

This is an old video. They got better at graphics recently but this is the only direct comparison I have. The irons are all tested individually and you can compare yourself.
Here’s the most recent video from AskGolfNut as well https://youtu.be/RND_lot_b-0?si=qCXdZJ7v0S1Rte9I
@Aubrey
I hit my blades further than game improvement irons, or players irons. But I do have high swing speeds and a very high smash factor with them.
@Aubrey
I hate the top line/thickness of game improvement irons, they are so thick and I feel like they are harder to hit.
