Using a Push Cart for the First Time While Golfing

It was fantastic for my golf game. I shot a 95, but that score doesn’t really show how well I struck the ball today, which has been a struggle lately. My three-putts ruined my chances of breaking 90, but I’m okay with that since I usually putt well. It really allowed me to enjoy the game and think more about my next shot, and I think it helped me to relax. We played at a great pace, and no one seemed bothered by my walking, not even the guys behind us. I definitely plan to do this more, though I’m not sure if I could manage it during the hotter summer months without a change of clothes. But definitely in spring and fall. Thanks to everyone who encouraged me to try this; it really changed the game for me.

I feel like I play better when I walk

My back feels better. I focus better. I played 55 rounds so far this year and walked 50 of them. I dropped 4 strokes off my index, and most of it happened at the end of the season after my stamina improved.

@Dakota
Yeah, you definitely feel looser throughout the round. You might get tired for a shot or two if it’s a long uphill walk, but overall it’s great.

@Dakota
I agree, but my legs feel like jelly by the time I finish the front 9. I get through it quickly, but it’s hard not to just want to quit at hole 9.

Same here, but that’s probably because I have a few beers when I ride and stay sober when I walk

Not sure if it was just luck or a mental thing, but I’m really looking forward to testing that idea!

I use walking as a time to look at the green as I approach it. You get a different view. It’s much easier to see the flow of the green when you’re coming from 50 yards out.

@Sullivan
Definitely noticed a lot more than when I hurried to my ball with a cart

There’s a study that showed that walkers tend to shoot lower scores compared to riders.

@Phoenix
That doesn’t really seem like a solid study, but given the small sample size, it’s not convincing.

I agree, but it really depends on how flat the course is. I walked some very hilly courses this summer, and by hole 15-16, I was wiped out

@Frankie
Yeah, this course is mostly flat. I can imagine a hilly course would have worn me out! I’m sitting on the couch now, and I’m already starting to feel it; I’m not looking forward to waking up tomorrow.

I love walking, but I feel like I’m always rushed by the older players on the course

Its freakin cool from my Apple Watch

@Miller
How do you see that?

Before I started playing, I used the golf workout. If you check your phone and go to Fitness, then scroll to the bottom, it should show there.

@Miller
You are awesome

Thanks, I appreciate hearing positive things!

@Miller
Didn’t know about this! My app would probably show a lot more horizontal or diagonal lines.
