Shrink The Game

Okay, shrinking the game might not be the answer but walking up and seeing this is utterly frustrating. The group ahead of us drove 2 carts through this area and as you can see many more people who can’t or choose to not read a 3-word sign drove through it.

But I don’t know why this surprises me since I am an ex-Park Ranger and so many people just see signs as suggestions.

Joining a club doesn’t always solve the problem either. I’m a member of one and people still drive where they shouldn’t and too close to greens and do dumb stuff.

It’s usually worse because they think they can do whatever they want with their dues and initiation.

@Xian
Absolutely, my experience with two clubs shows that. Most public courses, even if people ignore the “carts >>” sign, they still usually show the green a little respect. At both clubs, I’ve seen people driving just 2-3 yards from the fringe.

Members are often not any different than regular public players, just with some extra entitlement.

@Corey
Well, we’re lucky because most of our members are great. It’s mostly walk-ons who don’t care because they may not come back until next year or just a couple of times a year. Don’t get me started on pitch marks on the greens with them, either…

There’s just not enough threat of consequences nowadays. Fear is clearly the answer.

There should be a course-wide blacklist for people like this.

If violence hasn’t solved your issue, you just haven’t used enough of it yet.

I believe that violence is always an option — rarely the right one, but always a possibility.

@Case
Exactly. Incentives only change behavior. Physical action actually alters human behavior.

10 out of 10. Highly recommend. Bonus points if you take off your shirt and call your opponent ‘Shitstack.’

@Sawyer
You really want to test fate?

Cart path rules enforced by planes.

Ban them from the golf course.

Ban? Kick them off the tour, Doug!

Make everyone walk. Make those lazy folks exercise. Obviously, older folks, handicapped individuals, and kids can ride, but able-bodied people should just walk and enjoy nature and the game.

Take the carts away and let people walk.

@Nyle
I have a 24 handicap, does that count?

If you want to shrink the game, just join a club; you won’t have to deal with these issues.

Unfortunately, I’m way too broke for that.

Honestly, I can’t even afford a membership to a nicer municipal course in the area. =,(

@Cameron
Not yet!

You’ll get there soon! :muscle:
