Ryder Cup tickets for $750? No thanks

Watching live golf is kind of a mess. Too many people crowding around, and you barely get to see anything. Either you stay in one spot the whole day or miss out on most of the course. I’ve been before, and I’m not doing it again, especially not for $750. It’s just not worth it.

It’s like watching a movie about something fun. If I can’t be part of the action, I’d rather just watch it on TV.

Haha, well said!

I went to the Northern Trust at Liberty National a few years ago. General admission was $35, and we upgraded to reserved seats for $100 each. We could walk around the course and still have a nice place to sit and relax. We were super close to the players, and it was great. You won’t find that value at most sporting events these days.

I went to a golf event in the UK, and I agree, it’s one of the best value experiences. You get the whole day, and you can move around and get really close to the action. A major or Ryder Cup might be more crowded, but it’s still a great day out.

I went to an LPGA event last year and had an amazing time. I followed Nelly Korda around, and even though there was a decent crowd, I could always find a great spot to watch. It was a way better experience than most PGA events, in my opinion.

I disagree a bit. I went to the Masters in 2023, and it was a great experience. I got to see my favorite players and explore the course. I haven’t been to a Ryder Cup yet, but I imagine you can make the most of it. That said, $750 is steep, but I paid $2,000 for a Masters ticket.

You’re mostly paying for the experience of going to Augusta. If this were any other event, you wouldn’t be spending that kind of money. $2,000 for a Masters ticket is way overboard though; you could have found one for $1,000.

Guess you’re not a football fan. People spend $5,000 for tickets to big games.

I go to the Masters every year. Trust me, $2,000 isn’t worth it for a ticket. You’ll get your chance eventually.

You’re American, right? Just a heads-up, Ireland’s Ryder Cup is going to have crazy high accommodation and transport costs.

I went to a LIV Golf event last weekend for $20, and it was pretty great.

They should’ve paid you to go!

Yeah, I’d take a free ticket to a junior golf tournament before I’d spend $750 on an exhibition.

That’s the price for one ticket? Wow.

That’s ridiculous. I thought they’d be around $300.

The Solheim Cup was much cheaper and super fun last weekend. Everyone should check out LPGA events.

I don’t get how anyone can justify spending that much on a sporting event.

Best seat is always in your own living room.

Yeah, you can get a great TV for that price and watch it in high definition.

And you have cold drinks and good snacks.

But you miss out on paying $23 for a beer at the event!

Yeah, for $750 I agree. But we’ll all be complaining about commercials during the Ryder Cup, and it’ll be totally justified.

White Sox tickets have gotten crazy expensive too.
