I’m not saying it’s not rare — probably one of the less common clubs for a hole in one. But looking at Google, there are more than 500 million rounds of golf played in the US each year. There are just too many golfers to think no one hits a hole in one with a 5 hybrid. A number of courses have long par 3s and some players aren’t big hitters. If we’re talking about albatrosses on a par 4 with a 5 hybrid, I’ll listen on that.
@Keenan
The reply to that is many golfers are older or shorter hitters. BombTech Golf mentions men average 160 yards with a 5 hybrid. It would be a longer par 3 for someone whose distance is that far, but it’s not unreasonable to think many people use that club for par 3s.
@Keenan
Mine was with an 8-iron from 173 yards. I was 20 years younger and 50+ pounds lighter!
@Keenan
Honestly, that statement could not be more inaccurate. There are many par 3s in the 185-200 yard range.
@Keenan
I made one using a pitching wedge from 157 yards at Indian Lakes (now closed). I won $50k from it, which was a nice bonus. That was 12 years ago.
@Keenan
I got mine with a 48-degree pitching wedge on a shorter par 3 with a sloped green. It one-hopped right into the cup.
Congrats!! The first course I ever played was Juniata Golf Course

Juniata was my first too! It’s a special place for me. My grandfather took me there when I was young, and he even has a memorial bench on the course.
Lol, you say ‘finally’ like we haven’t been playing for 35 years and still haven’t gotten one. Makes me wonder how absolutely terrible I must be to not have hit a hole in one all this time

My son got a hole in one during his second year of playing, while I’ve played for 50 years and never had one. Not going to lie, I had a voice in my head shouting NOT FAIR even though I was super proud and excited for him.
The classic 185 to the front edge par 4. Get it!
As a fellow Philadelphian, you have to be quite the fan to enjoy playing Juniata… and I definitely am one of those fans. I’ve never had the courage to go for the green on that hole, so well done and congrats!
Congrats man, that’s incredible! I never expected to see my local public course posted here. Makes it even more impressive hitting off the concrete ground they have there!
Albatross alert! I wonder how many of those happen in North America daily. My guess is it’s less than 5, or sometimes even zero in off-peak seasons. But great job! Drivable par 4s provide the most thrilling tee shots in golf, in my opinion.
Ah, good old Juniata! Or as others call it, ‘Augusta of the North.’
I drove by Juniata today. Played a lot of rounds there. Congrats, man.
The first time I went there as a kid, they found a dead body behind one of the greens later that week… Anyway, congrats!
Nice shot! Now the big question… who shot 95 on that course??

A friend of mine it was only his 4th round ever.
And with a 78 too! Well done, man!
