I built my own Top Golf in my backyard because it got too pricey

So I moved into a new house a few months ago and I’m lucky to have a drainage field right next to my place. I bought some targets, glow balls, and lights for the backyard. We hit from my patio and the drainage field goes about 85-90 yards into the woods. It’s like a chipping Top Golf and it’s actually turned out better than I expected. You know it’s a hit when even my wife says this is really cool. This video is my buddy Johnny’s first time trying it.

I’ll share some other photos in the comments. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

What type of balls do you use? Every LED ball I’ve tried feels like hitting a rock.

Night Eagles actually hit pretty nice, and they’re great because you turn them on by shining your phone light on a specific part instead of being hit activated, so they won’t turn off randomly.

I didn’t expect to get shade when looking at the item on Amazon.

“LONG LASTING: Our balls have a continuous battery life of about 30 hours, meaning in most cases the battery will outlast your ball.”

To be fair, my buddy did hit 3 of mine into the water.

They’re all going to feel hard because they need to be strong enough to protect the LED mechanism from the impact.

Explaining things is being a nerd now? The internet is so dumb.

Also, how is being a ‘nerd’ still an insult?

I don’t know. You can explain things well and might be somewhat intelligent? Ha! Nerd!

They sound like Nelson from The Simpsons.

My favorite Nelson line is when he meets the new Indian kid at school, whose name is Bashir… something like, ‘Great, I love a kid who comes with instructions.’

We would get so drunk doing this all night. Drop me a pin, I’m on my way.

Tuesday’s $28 an hour at Top Golf. Yours looks legit though. Great job!

About $200 on the golf stuff (targets, balls, ball retriever, mat, etc.) and about $200 on all the solar lights for the backyard and spotlights for the targets. All the lights I found on Amazon were solar, which is great.

And 500,000 on a house with a yard.

Fairly accurate, actually.

When it rains, make sure you call the county to complain that your Top Golf flooded. :joy: Nice work! Very cool.
