I bought some new clubs yesterday!

I am a 30 handicap, and not new to golf, but I have been away from the game for a good fifteen years. I started playing again about three months ago, and went and bought some Cobra F-Max irons. I have been getting better every week, but felt something was lacking since I can’t seem to hit the ball as far as I used to. I am mid 40’s now, and a little heavier than I was but I still get around well, and I feel like I don’t have a “bad” swing. I went to Golf Galaxy for a lesson, and the trainer affirmed that my swing was not bad, and my contact was consistent, and I should look into some new irons. I hit my Cobra 7 iron average 125 carry, and fairly straight, with a slight fade on a miss hit. I went for a fitting yesterday, and tried the Mizuno 245’s, and I loved the way they felt, but only hit them an average carry of 138. I was then handed a Srixon ZX5 MkII, and it was like I was a different person!! My swing speed went from 72-75mph to 83-86mph, the LA went up, and the DA went up to mid to high 40’s from being in the 30’s with a carry of 168 and total of 175!!! These irons feel amazing, and I can’t wait to hit the course on Monday(I work weekends). I have a goal set of breaking 100 by the end of the year, and I hope these irons help achieve that…plus the practice I have been putting in… Just wanted to share with everyone, as I am really stoked…

What other irons did you consider?

How about the 770s? I’m between those TM and these. What was your impression?

I didn’t like them at address, and they were almost the same as the Mizunos, besides the light feel. Definetly go hit them during your fitting!

I wanted to like these irons so bad, they just didnt work for me. Great looking clubs

That was me with the Mizuno 245’s…I wanted them to work, and should have, but sadly not.

I almost got those! They were so buttery, ended up with ping i530s.

They felt great! Smooth swing, buttery soft contact, and sounded great. I even hit them more consistently centered, but I just didn’t get the shot shape or distance. I love the way they look too!

Same boat. Had a combo set of ZX 5/7’s and wasn’t a noticeable upgrade on the course compared to my old 855’s. Swapped out for Mizuno Pro 225’s and saw a BIG difference on the course.

Everyone is a bit different, but I wanted to like these so badly. Felt like I let them down

Some of the best irons out there. But your stats these vs the 245s are odd, those should perform pretty similarly. Different shafts?

We tried two different shafts besides the same KBS shaft that was in the Srixon. Maybe it was just me? The 245 felt much lighter, even with the same shaft, and I really liked the look of it at address too.

Leave some sex for the rest of us

Congrats? How do those hosels perform on the range?

At work today through the weekend, so I won’t know until at least Monday, as I purchased last night. Will post an update on the lineup yardages and first few rounds!

Played these irons for about a year now… Love them. Enjoy!
