My dad looked pretty drained from life before he found golf. He worked, went home, and kept talking about retirement. I introduced him to golf since he enjoyed baseball and frisbee golf, and he likes to drink a bit, so I thought he might enjoy it. Now he goes almost every other day to practice his swing and can’t stop showing us clips of how far he can hit it. It’s pretty cool, he’s kind of hooked, which is fine. I thought he would like it, but I didn’t think he would like it this much lol. He looks more alive now.
Play golf with your dad as much as possible while you have the chance.

I remember the last shot I took with my dad when I was 16. He made a long putt and then I nailed one from the same distance right after. He’s still around, but we moved that summer and never played together again. It’s strange how one day you do something for the last time without even knowing it.
@Lane
Phew! You had me worried. I thought the last thing I’d said to my dad was ‘Get in the hole!’ and then I’d never see him again.

Doesn’t sound like he won’t see him again. The living dead.

That’s what you call a walk-off putt.
@Lane
Well, what are you waiting for!?
@Lane
So, maybe that was not the last time?

He doesn’t play anymore and we live in different states. I doubt it

This happened to me too.
My brother and I planned a trip to Pebble Beach for years. Something always got in the way. It wasn’t money.
Then my brother passed at 43, and my dad followed a few months later.
What am I supposed to do now?
Go to Pebble alone? It’s really sad.
So I suggest you pick up your dad and play with him.
I can’t even get to the first tee anymore. I still practice twice a week, but I just can’t play.
@Warren
Go and play; I bet you have a great round. The spirits of your brother and dad will be with you. I’ve only been playing seriously since June and went to the public course my grandfather helped start a while back. I struggled but felt their presence. Just my two cents. Feeling connected to those you’ve lost is amazing.
@Perrin
Yeah, Pebble with them would have been epic. I wanted to hit up Spyglass too! Thinking about planning those trips was exciting, but I just never made it to the tee box.

Now that I’m an older dad, you’d be surprised how far we’ll go to see our kids.
@Lane
Ask him to play again?
@Lane
I used to play with my dad a lot. I still do, but I used to a lot more.

Alright Mitch.

I played one round with my dad when I was young and another when I was older. Then we got busy, and my dad got ALS. He watched me play a few rounds but I regret not playing more.

I played and won a tournament with my dad. We were celebrating his 70th. Great feeling.
