Watching pros play in real life is really amazing; it’s crazy how far and accurate these guys are.
I’ve played both South and North courses. First time at the South course, hole 1 looks wide open. I say to the boys, “WTF are they always bitching about?” Proceed to put it in the left rough. Go to hit my second shot, yeah, the rough ain’t no joke. This was 3 weeks after the PGA was there, and it wrecked me lol.

I’m interested in playing there someday. What’s your recommendations and inputs on both courses?

SD local here, I play Torrey all the time since we get a sick discount. North is the most fun imo; it’s like a warm hug. Front 9 is fun but the back 9 is the star. 14-16 is the best view on the course; you can see the entire beach to La Jolla. South is also fun, but more in a kick-your-shins way. Triple the amount of bunkers, super long holes. Views aren’t as good (still awesome tho), but people love it because it’s the Championship course. Certainly plays like it. I also recommend walking if you’re good at keeping pace without a cart. It’s a beautiful place to walk and there’s like no distance between holes. I love getting out early, like 7-8. 4-ish hour round, and you can get the breakfast burrito at the turn. Very good by golf course standards. That being said, teeing off 4-5 hours before sunset is awesome too. Coming up 14-16 North as the sunset gets pretty is unreal. Rough sucks, especially around the tournaments. Greens are fucking crazy sometimes. Amazing courses.
@Del
They always talk about the height of the rough on TV; they never talk about how dense and thick it is. At tournament time, it’s so crazy dense us mortals need to go 90° if you’re in it sometimes.
I’ve always wanted to play there!
I’m hoping the Genesis Invitational gets moved there so I can check it out in a few weeks.

Did you check out the pro tee box on 13?
Don’t think you can get back there during the tournament can you? If you could I wouldn’t move. It would be so cool to see those guys hammer bombs over that canyon.
Absolutely killed this course on my PC.
