There are many replies that are questioning the online price - looks like we might be getting to the root of the website issue haha! But his rates are $600 for a 5 lesson package, all after a free one hour intro/swing critique.
Hi everyone! I posted this in my city’s forum and got a suggestion to share it here too. Any help would be appreciated!
I recently started taking golf lessons, and I’ve really enjoyed it. I’ve always been fairly athletic and coordinated, but I could never figure out how to swing a golf club without feeling awkward. That’s when I met Richard ‘Doc’ Olshock.
Doc has been one of the best teachers I’ve ever learned from. He has a lot of knowledge about golf swing techniques and the muscles we rarely use for anything other than swinging a golf club. He is passionate about the sport and truly cares about his students. He’s one of the nicest people I’ve met. Just to highlight his dedication, the only reason he teaches golf so often is because he gave away all his retirement savings after a long career in forensics.
Last night, I started my lesson and asked how he had been, and his answer made me feel sad. He’s been having a hard time getting new students because the studio where he works changed their website, making it harder for people to find him and sign up for lessons. Even though he brushed it off, I could tell it stressed him out.
If you or anyone you know is even slightly interested in learning how to swing a golf club, please consider Richard Olshock at Denver Golf Performance. You won’t regret it, and I know he would really appreciate your support.

I’m not in Denver but I have a friend who visits every year. I’ll let him know and maybe he can drop by for a lesson.
Something my grandfather told me once: ‘If we don’t share meals with those in need, how can we call ourselves good people?’
I don’t want to ruin the good vibe, but a Google search shows this guy charges $300 per hour.
That’s tough, but you never know what might happen.
Well, he’s not on Golf.com’s Top 100 or GolfDigest’s Top 50. I don’t usually trust individual rankings, but the fact he’s not mentioned raises some flags.

I just looked him up, $300 an hour? That’s outrageous. If he’s not coaching pros, he shouldn’t charge that much. I don’t care how good he claims to be.
The website doesn’t show his actual rates. It’s one free intro lesson and then $600 for 5 lessons.

So, a new student is stuck with a 5-lesson package at $120 each?
You get a free intro lesson first, then you can decide if you want the package. I think there’s room for negotiation for more experienced golfers, but I went for the package since I’m just starting out.

$300 an hour is crazy. I live in an expensive area, and at two top private courses, the instructors are $120 an hour.

I’m not in Denver, but I was going to leave an upvote because he seems like a good guy.
If you think he’s that good, maybe he is. He should reach out to the Denver Small Business Development Center. It’s usually at a local community college, and he can set up an appointment online. They offer free mentoring for small businesses. I’ve worked with them, and they’re a great resource for motivated people.
He should start a small independent lesson company that partners with several golf courses. He can pay them to be listed on their websites and use their facilities. This way, he won’t rely on just one place that’s not working out.
He should join Skillest so posts like this can reach more people. I’ve liked Skillest in the past, and he could get a lot more exposure that way without the costs of his current studio.

Are you sure? Just wondering about what cut Skillest takes, since online platforms usually take a big percentage.

From what I found, it’s $50 a month to be on the platform. If he books just one lesson a month, he’ll come out ahead.

What are his rates? I’m nearby.
The internet says $300 per hour, while the person who posted this says there’s a $600-for-5 package. Either way, it’s going to cost a lot.
I pay $45 for 45 minutes, and my instructor is probably just as good as this guy.

Support him or not, that’s up to you. But he’s a good guy and a great teacher. $120 an hour isn’t bad. It’s really $100 if you factor in the free intro.
