Can anyone give me any information on this pin?

A couple of years ago, I was at a casino playing blackjack. The man next to me was twirling this pin in his fingers and claimed it was his good luck charm. After he left, I noticed he forgot it at the table. I searched everywhere for him and even took it to customer service, where they told me they would never find out who it belonged to and asked me to keep it. I can’t find any information on it anywhere. Nothing comes up when I google ‘Texas masters 1968’ related to this. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I think I’ve cracked it. It’s probably a reference to Roberto De Vicenzo, who won the Houston Open in 1968. It was a month after De Vicenzo missed a playoff to win the Masters because of an error on his scorecard, forcing him to keep an extra stroke. I’m guessing this pin relates to ‘his Masters’, or something similar.

Damn, well done! Reddit is undefeated at investigating obscurities.

That’s actually baller as fuck.

Wow, that detective work is unbelievable. Does this mean it’s a pretty rare item?

Roberto passed in 2017. Were you in Vegas before that? Maybe you were at the table with him.

@Teo
Imagine if it was him…

@Teo
It was around that time, but I don’t think he was old enough. I had quite a few drinks at that point.

Best I can do is $20.

Tree fiddy.

@Storm
Wow, good job.

@Storm
What was the process to figure this out?

@Storm
This rule is still in effect today. The player isn’t responsible for the overall scorecard, just the individual hole scores. If you sign your card for a higher score, you take that score. For a lower score, it’s disqualification.

@Storm
Gonna hear about this on SGS for sure.

@Storm
Man, imagine being that other player—just a simple error costing someone a chance at the Masters.

Based on the story, I can only assume you were visited by an entity from an alternate universe where the Masters is played in Texas.

Wait! Are you suggesting there’s a darker timeline than the one we’re currently in?

@Bailey
Evil Troy and Evil Aaaabed.

@Bailey
Indeed, and a player named Lion Forrest is the GOAT.

Hahaha, I was thinking the same!

It has to do with Roberto di Vicenzo. He should have won the Masters in '68 but did win in Houston.
