Been working on speed

As a member of r/golf, what are you even doing here with those sub 330 drive numbers? I’ve only been playing for 23 days and broke 75 last month. Get better OP

Embarrassing, I know. Trying to get to r/golf level one day :smirk:

@Shane
You should post your swing so we can fix you.

I worked on speed once, but they fired me for it.

What’s the sim?

Using the Flightscope traj optimizer I can’t get anything > 270 carry with that ball speed while playing around with the launch angle.

What is your AoA and launch angle?

@Shane
AoA doesn’t matter when using the Traj Optimizer since you’re only entering ball data, so spin, launch angle (V and H), ball speed. Could be an environmental factor, like altitude, but I only tested at sea level.

The longest carry I could get it to calculate was exactly 270 with a 19° launch angle.

So, that’s why I ask: What sim is reporting this data to you?

Try it out yourself:

@Jesse
I dunno bud, I don’t use a website calculation.

Flightscope is a manufacturer of one of the two major high-end launch monitors, the other being Trackman. This isn’t some fly-by-night $100 simulator. The calculation is the same one they use in their launch monitor.

@Jesse
I know what Flightscope is, and I’m not trying to start an argument. The post is about working on speed, not Flightscope vs Uneekor numbers.

I’m not arguing, just asking what the launch monitor was. It’s certainly important to have accurate data when working on speed.

@Jesse
Got ya. Ball speed is all I’m really looking at, hoping to get to 170 at some point.

Do you max out your SF at around 1.45? There’s a bit of headroom there, but not much.

@Jesse
That was a bit of a heel strike. I’ve been up to 165 with a 1.50 SF; that was just a pic I took of a swing while my buddy and I were playing last night. Working on the swing and speed lately has me consistently over 160 ball speed, whereas before I was in the 50s.

@Jesse

Flightscope is a manufacturer of one of the two major high-end launch monitors, the other being Trackman.

Flightscope is a distant third behind TM and Foresight. And again, everyone’s algorithm is different. The same data in Trackman would read longer than Flightscope. Foresight likely is a little longer than that, depending on inputs.

@Jesse
The Flightscope traj optimizer is a little low on its outputs. Everything out there is based on an algorithm; Flightscopes tend to be on the lower end of the spectrum. 281 carry is about right for that ball speed.

@Jesse
I find the Flightscope distance numbers universally lower than Uneekor and GC Quad.

Bomb slice?
