Why can Bryson and BDS never break 50 when others are scoring <46 in scrambles

How can a hacker, course pro, and Lewis and Clark keep getting 44s

Most of these posts never mention the number of mulligans and tricks scramble events offer That is the main difference

For instance, a couple of weeks ago in a scramble tournament on one of the par 5s, you could pay to tee off from 50 yards from the green

Or you could pay for mulligans

Yeah I played in one where if you donated $500, you could mark a hole in one for the par 5

Yep I don’t get why people think these are actually competitive If you want it to be competitive just try to break your own record

Great for newbies too I played my first 18 holes during a scramble and it helped boost my confidence to get out and play a normal 9 or 18 holes

There’s also posts complaining about donation sheets being passed around at charity tournaments This forum is strange

I did this last year Played a 2 ball scramble style round, played two balls, always from the better ball I did it twice, better score of those two times I shot an 80 I know it doesn’t count but it showed me that if I could eliminate more bad shots breaking 90 is well within my abilities

When I had more time to play I did this a lot I would also play one ball aggressively and the other safely to see what scoring opportunities were realistic versus foolish It’s a pretty fun way to practice

Yes I’ll shoot two balls when I’m playing solo and nobody is around Haven’t done scramble style but it’s always interesting to see my best ball result usually 4 to 7 shots lower than either single round Definitely helps to know what you’re capable of if you can cut out bad shots or blow up holes

Back when I was younger and played competitive tournament golf I would often play late evening 9 hole practice sessions playing worst ball This is playing 2 balls but taking the worst of the 2 until you hole out I miss those days Try it out sometime it will make you better when you are just playing 1 ball guaranteed

And then you read about pros doing that but picking the worst ball and still shooting par or better

Surely Yeah no one out there saying they got a hole in one in the par 5 that the long drive pro runs

You take his drive regardless and every $100 after the first $100 gets another stroke off
