Who’s Using Apple Watch on the Course for Their Game?

Hey all,

I’m looking to get some insights from fellow golfers who use the Apple Watch during their rounds. I’ve been a loyal Apple user for years, but I keep hearing that Garmin watches are the go-to for golfers. Unfortunately, my rangefinder just died, and I’m considering making the switch to a watch instead.

I’ve seen a few Apple Watch apps designed for golfing, but I’m not sure if they’re worth it. Do any of you use an Apple Watch on the course? How do the apps perform? Are they reliable for distance measurements, tracking stats, and other features?

I use 18Birdies on my Apple Watch. In the past 6 to 12 months, they have made some big improvements to the design and user experience. It’s now much easier to enter scores and stats, which helps me stay focused on my game.

Anyone not using 18birdies on their apple watch is seriously missing out. I’ve tried probably the top 10 free golf watch apps and it’s not even close that 18birdies has by far the best UI. Their recent updates over the last year have made it incredibly easy to input scores/stats

I’ve been beta testing some of their new user interface for features like Strokes Gained. They’re making great progress on the app.

Dude the last update was awesome! I like how they made the sync between phone and watch automatic and added the ability to scroll hole to hole.

Good to hear, the UI/UX is why I stopped using it

Do you still have to have the phone with you to track distances and such? I rock the Apple Watch Series 3, it’s pretty barebones.

I use mine with The Grint. I can enter my score, track stats, see yardages for the front, middle, and back of the green, view a GPS aerial map of the hole, read green heat maps, and check all the forced carry distances. I hardly ever need to use my phone during a round. When fully charged, it lasts for 36 holes.

I use Golfshot and the Apple Watch. Shot tracking isn’t great but distances are near exact compared to range finders
