What distance can a beginner expect to achieve when hitting a 7 iron?

I’ve recently taken up golfing and am focusing on practicing my irons with a half swing. Typically, when I make good contact, my 7 iron travels around 105–120 yards. Is this distance satisfactory for a half swing?

Excellent distance to use a 7 iron for a half swing! Focus on control, that’s key for beginners. That is the proper course for you. If you practice enough, the distance will grow on its own.
