What are the best golf shoes for walking?

I have around $100 in gift cards for the PGA Superstore. I’m looking for comfortable golf shoes that will last more than one season and are pretty waterproof. I’m okay with either spiked or spikeless shoes, but I think spikeless might be better for walking.

I currently have old Adidas shoes that I don’t like and need to replace. I’ve heard good things about Ecco shoes, but I wanted to get some opinions.

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

There isn’t a specific shoe brand in your price range that stands out above the rest, so most recommendations will reflect personal preferences, which may not align with yours.

Spikes vs. Spikeless: Personally, I prefer plastic spikes for better traction on wet grass, especially when swinging the driver. Spikeless shoes don’t provide enough grip for me. Additionally, replacing plastic spikes can extend the life of your shoes.

Water Resistance: Some golf shoes are designed like lightweight tennis shoes with breathable fabric, ideal for hot, dry days. Others are built to be waterproof or highly water-resistant. Quality waterproof shoes often come with at least a one-year warranty, and some offer two years. Typically, the shoes wear out before the waterproofing fails.

Fit: The best walking shoes depend primarily on how they fit you, which is highly individual. No brand fits everyone best. Bring your golf socks to the store, try on many shoes that meet your requirements, walk around in them, and mimic a golf swing to see how they feel, especially on the follow-through.

Cost: I rarely spend more than $130, so finding shoes within your budget should be manageable.

For context, I walk three rounds a week, experiencing rainy winters and dry summers in California.

The best golf shoes for walking are typically lightweight, comfortable, and have good cushioning and support. Look for brands like FootJoy, Adidas, and Nike, which offer models designed specifically for walking the golf course.
