What Are the Top Golf Resorts in San Diego?

I’m seeking recommendations for golf resorts in the San Diego area. My work meetings are moving from NYC to California in late January, and I’ll have several free days to play multiple rounds of golf. Since the Farmers Insurance Open will be happening that week, I’m assuming Torrey Pines might be a bit crowded. I’m looking for great options suitable for a high handicap golfer, ideally with comfortable onsite lodging and preferably close to some nightlife. Any suggestions?

Here are some of the best golf resorts in San Diego:

  1. The Lodge at Torrey Pines: Overlooking the famous Torrey Pines Golf Course with ocean views, this resort is known for its luxury accommodations and top-rated restaurants.
  2. Omni La Costa Resort & Spa: A popular destination with two championship courses, perfect for both relaxation and golf.
  3. Aviara Resort, Golf Club & Spa: Located in Carlsbad, this resort features a scenic Arnold Palmer-designed course.
  4. Park Hyatt Aviara: Known for its upscale amenities and challenging course, it’s a great choice for golf enthusiasts.

How much money do you have? A good course at a terrific price, Temecula Creek Inn is around an hour’s drive from downtown San Diego. You can also play the excellent, but more expensive, Pechanga course, which is nearby. In Carlsbad, Omni La Costa, provided price isn’t a major consideration.
