Hello. I want to get together with seven or eleven friends to golf in Michigan this summer. Is there anyone who can recommend some decent books? Since I am from the Detroit region, somewhere on the north and west coast that is not in the urban area would be perfect. It would be fantastic if you could provide me with specific golf resorts or locations.
The Gull Lake area is a budget-friendly choice. There are six courses within a few miles of one other, and replay rates are honored between courses, among other things.
Treetops is an absolute must-have. Four courses, plus a par three course, and economical play and stay packages. There are also numerous great courses in the Gaylord region, which is a very gorgeous section of the state.
You might also want to consider staying in Grand Rapids and playing some of the courses there. There are many outstanding courses within 30 minutes of downtown, including Pilgrim’s Run, Thousand Oaks, and Thornapple Pointe.
You may also play and stay at Tullymore/St Ives, about an hour north of Grand Rapids. Two of the best courses in the state, but be warned: there is absolutely nothing to do in the nearby neighborhood except golf and drinking at the resort.
Golf and gambling (the finest golf)
Harbor Springs area. The golf is the greatest in the country, featuring all of the Boyne Courses (stay and play), as well as standouts such as Little Traverse Bay, Crooked Tree, and Bay Harbor. The extra advantage is that Odawa Casino is one of Michigan’s finer casinos.
