Should You Get a Carry Bag with or without a Stand

I would never get a bag without legs. I walk 99% of the time and live in the PNW, so I play more wet/muddy rounds than not.

If you ever use a push cart or regular golf cart (even once or twice a year), go for the stand bag. I have both, including that non-stand Jones bag you mentioned. It’s much lighter because it holds less stuff. It’s also terrible to use if I take a cart, so it’s less versatile. I use it for short, casual rounds, while my Ping Hoofer is my go-to 90% of the time, and I walk about 95% of the time.

I have carry-only bags. One is for bad weather (the Ping Moonlite) and another for nicer weather (a Jones utility rover). I find them more comfortable to carry than bags with a stand. However, stand bags are more comfortable for everything else.

I don’t understand why you wouldn’t always go for a stand. I’m sure people have their reasons, but being able to stand your bag up off the ground is always nice.

Don’t forget how wet and muddy it can get; it’s nice to keep your gear relatively clean.

With a stand!

I walk at least twice a week. Both bags I have have stands. Still thinking about getting a push cart.

Unless it’s $400+, the bags without stands will fall over most of the time they’re not on flat ground.

I will always support my choice to get a carry bag with a stand. I don’t think I could handle a carry bag without one. It’s something I will stand firm about.

Get the stand. I have both bags, but I only use the old-school one for par 3 courses or when I take a half set in case I might play somewhere. I’m glad to have it, but the stand is better for everything.

I like my Sunday bag, and I usually don’t mind setting it on the ground. The worst part for me is at the range or holding it while I get things out of my car. It’s definitely a bigger hassle than a stand bag, but I have to be different.

I prefer a stand bag.

I definitely go with a stand. Your ball won’t be on level ground, and you don’t want to be constantly cleaning the outside of the bag or drying it off.

It’s a white bag. If you lay it down on the grass too much, it will get dirty.

If you’re ever going to walk without a push cart, definitely go with a stand bag. I recently got a push cart and replaced my stand bag with a lightweight cart bag, and I’m pretty happy with that setup.

I have one of those Jones bags without a stand, and I recommend getting a bag with a stand.

Always go for a stand.

I have a bag without a stand, and it’s not stiff enough, so I can’t even lay it in a corner because two hours later it’s a mess. On the course, I don’t care, but it’s a hassle at home.

I don’t get why bags without stands are still made. Who uses them besides pros with a caddy? (Even then, wouldn’t a stand be more useful?)
One type covers all needs, the other one barely checks one box.

I have one of each. The bag without a stand is great for half sets on morning rounds.

With legs or else you’re laying your bag on the ground every time you stop.
