Cheers Rory! Big win at a historic location. As a Rory Stan, I’m ready to be hurt again in April.

Rory looks different, he was Iceman out there. Rory/Scottie battle this season is what I’m hoping for.

Big win with a hole in one for the weekend too, even if it was dunked on another course. He’s gotta be flying high right now mentally.

He’s winning The Open this year, and maybe one more major.

Dude keeps playing like that he’s got a major in him this year. Just need to not miss the short ones.

Please win the Masters you beautiful man

Driver 7 iron 1 putt for eagle on 14 may be one of the most impressive strings of golf you can see. Incredibly hard hole he made look novice

The tracer on 14 from the tee box is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve seen. He took that tee shot a good 5-10 yards further right than anyone else and launched it 163 feet in the air. That is insanely high. 345 off the tee and then an awesome 7 iron into the green matched only by that putt for eagle.

What’s crazy too is the precision you have to land that shot on that line. You can easily block yourself out with the few big trees on the right hand side of the fairway/rough if you take it too far right

Different game. I appreciate the skill and strength to hit the ball that far and all that, but it’s also the very reason there needs to be a windback. Par 5s are basically obsolete.

@Oli
340 carry

@Oli
I agree there needs to be a rollback, but what Rory did there is not anywhere close to normal, even by tour standards. Most take it left of the bunker and still have a shot at the green, but they are hitting long irons or woods into a very narrow uphill green. Sure its an attackable par 5, but 2, 6, and 18 are much easier holes that are guaranteed on the green in two even after missing the fairway.

@Oli
I am absolutely against this mindset. These guys have worked their ass off to play like this and here you are doing fuck all saying it’s too much.

Well maybe they can look forward to working their asses off to hit it 300 instead of 340 in the future

I see both sides, but the other guy has the technology point also. As players and technology got better, they have continually lengthened golf courses. We’re at a point now, where courses are beginning to run out of room. We are undoubtedly going to reach a point where the tech will have to be rolled back. It’s just a matter of when.

Mate. While that is certainly one way you could have replied, contrary to popular belief it is ok to have a discussion on the internet without being an obnoxious fuckwit.

@Oli
This reply is more obnoxious than their comment imo

@Oli
When they roll the ball back, Rory will have a bigger advantage.

And in 10 years, they’ll be hitting it as far as they do now.

Cool. And in the meantime what happens to courses that are running out of room? Do you like watching driver wedge on par 4s and driver short iron on par 5s? It’s boring as fuck.

@Oli
Which tour course is running out of room?
