Paid off my student loans, so I got a whole new set up

I originally planned to treat myself to a new bag, but after 20 years away, I ended up going all in on a new set of clubs. It took some time to pay them off, but today, I finally picked up the last pieces—my new drivers.

Here’s the full setup:

  • Driver & 4W: Ping G440 Max / TaylorMade P790 4i-A wedge
  • Wedges: Titleist Vokey SM10 (56° & 60°)
  • Putter: Titleist Super Select Newport 2.5
  • Bag: Sun Mountain Mid Stripe

Funny enough, the entire setup cost me less than a single month of student loan payments.

That’s a good way to quickly burn up $3000+ lol.

The loans or the clubs?

Both evidently.

Your pitching wedge to approach wedge order is killing my OCD. Why not 8, 9, P, A?! Ps nice setup and good for you!

Lol I clearly didn’t take the time to set up this photo properly.

@Kim
Well, you set up the rest of the clubs! Wtf /s.

Congrats. The 2023 P790s have completely changed my iron game for the better. Enjoy the added distance and forgiveness while throwing the occasional dart!

I absolutely love my PING G440 Max Driver and 3W! Enjoy yours!

I just got the G440 3W last week, haven’t played a round with it yet but I loved it at the shop and on the range right after. The guy at the shop said I was “special” so he fit me into the SFT version lmao.

How’re those G440’s? Been interested to check them out.

No idea, just picked them up today, but it felt so good getting fit. My drive was much straighter than normal when hitting it getting fitted; usually have a pretty big fade, turned into a little baby fade on mis-hit.

@Kim
Did you try out anything else in your fitting?

Titleist GT2, Callaway Elyte, TM Qi35. Ping was most forgiving for me by far with the tightest dispersion.

Didn’t try the G430 10k?

@parker
No, if I was going Ping, I wanted the movable weight for the draw bias.

Makes sense. I’m gaming the 430 10k and the dispersion is TOIGHT.

Got any intentions to fill it out with like a 5W or 7W at the top?

No, I found myself never reaching for my 5W when I had one, and weirdly usually hit my 3W just as far as my driver. Figured I’d split the difference between a 3 and 5 with a 4W. And I just hit iron so much better, can hit 4i 220 to 230, so no need to add a wood that I’m just going to shank.

@Kim
220?? Check the main page of the sub, there’s $1000 out there with your name on it.
