I’ve seen this a hundred times and always scroll past because the comments are usually something like ‘it’s not that hard or impressive.’
Finally gave it a try, and for a mid-teen handicap, it’s not that easy. It taught me a lot once I got the feel for it. I learned to feel the club trail, not to throw the head, and that my hands are much closer to my body than I’m used to.
After hitting about 50 one-handed shots and getting decent contact, I switched to two hands. Everything felt so clean. I dusted some foot powder on the wedge, and after one slight heel shot, everything was pretty centered (for me). Check it out …
So it might be better for right-handers to hit lefty and left-handers to hit righty.
It’s a backward orientation, and that’s why golf is tough.
I enjoy the scoop feeling of a chip with my trail hand.
Yeah, I used to feel that way too, like pushing with my right / trail hand.
I’ve switched to chipping with my lead side recently (the backhanded tennis swing feel), and it’s been giving me better results, so I’ll stick with it for now, lol.
My putting is also the same way, and I’d say I’m an above-average putter. My other friend uses his lead hand to putt, and I can’t grasp that, but he’s a good putter too.
He’s finding his comfortable impact point for his hands. I prefer doing this with two hands since I’m not a + handicap. lol.
I stopped taking full practice swings two years ago. Now my practice swings are about the same as what you see here. I’m focused on where my hands, arms, and body need to be at impact. I can’t perfect the whole swing. Just focusing on the most important part.

Personally, I think you should hit golf balls with your lead hand.

This has blown my mind. Why am I using my non-dominant arm as my lead arm? I guess it’s because power comes from the lower body, and you want your dominant leg back?

The more I think about this, the more confused I get.
