Golf can be so frustrating.
Yeah, next up, you’ll mess up both the driver and pitching. And don’t worry, your putting will soon want its turn.

I was playing really well earlier this year, only a few shots over on the 9-hole course I frequent.
But now, it’s gotten so bad, I’m shanking balls sideways or just barely topping them. I’m completely lost right now, nothing is going my way.

I think it’s all in your head now. Try playing a few rounds without keeping score. If you hit a bad shot, don’t hesitate to drop another ball and just try again. This might help you relax and bring back the game you know you can play.

I played a scramble with some buddies, and it felt better. But when I go to the range, the moment I start feeling good, the shanks come back like clockwork.
You’re right, though. I’m definitely overthinking everything.

If you’re lucky, you’ll have 2 or 3 working at any one time. Some days, everything is off. Occasionally, you’ll string together a hole or two where everything clicks, only for the next few rounds to be a disaster. Welcome to amateur golf.
I like to think of golf as having dials. If one thing is dialed in, something else is off. You get to adjust one each round, but you don’t get to choose which. I’m still waiting for the day when my putter dial is turned up. Funny how they can all be turned down at the same time though.

Welcome to the golf life, my friend. You can join my foursome anytime.
I pitch with an approach wedge using a more sweeping swing, almost like a long bump and run. I couldn’t stay consistent with higher lofted wedges. Nothing hurts more than thinning a sand wedge way over the green.

I feel the same way. I’m so tired of thinning my 60-degree wedge or sand wedge over the green. I’m sticking with bump and runs using my pitching wedge unless I need to get over something.

Golf has its ups and downs. When I’m working on touch, I randomly throw in a couple of wedge shots while hitting drives on the range. Gotta learn to go from fast to smooth in an instant.

Had the same issue. Once I fixed my driver, my irons got worse. Turns out I was using a driver stance for my irons. Once I started focusing on even weight distribution for irons, things started getting better.

Golf drives me nuts. A month ago, I was hitting fairways consistently and driving 250-275 yards. My pitching was solid, but I kept 3-putting. Next round, my putting was great, but I couldn’t pitch to save my life. It’s like I just kept hitting the ball back and forth over the green. Third round, my pitching and putting were on point, but I couldn’t keep a ball on the fairway. One day it’ll all come together.

Same here. I got a new driver recently, finally dialed it in, and played one of my best rounds on a challenging course. Then, the next weekend, I couldn’t hit anything right and had one of my worst rounds in years.

Probably just depends on how much practice you put into each part of your game.

Ah, golf. It’ll be the day when both parts of your game are working…only for you to 4-putt every green

How often are you practicing? Feel is a huge part of the game. When I don’t practice, my touch goes off. I spend a lot of time hitting 30-50 yard pitches in my yard. Then I go out and top my driver

This usually happens when my angle of attack changes.

Keep practicing, you’ll get it back.
