How to Score Wolf - Need Help with Payouts

Hey guys,

We played a round of Wolf the other day, and the scores ended up being 15, 1, 2, and 12. We were playing with $2 per point.

Here’s the thing—my buddy was keeping score, but he got a bit too drunk to finish it out, and now we have no clue how to figure out the payouts. Can anyone help us sort this out? How does this payout work with the scores we have?

You’ve gotta figure out if just the winner gets paid or if the top 2 do. Usually, when we play Wolf, the three guys pay out the sole winner …you can do tiebreaks however you want… Since the scores were close and we didn’t talk about it beforehand, let’s just take the top 2 point earners this time.

So, 15 points is 30 bucks, and 12 points is 24 bucks. That gives us a total of $54. The other two owe 27 bucks each, splitting up 30 for first place and 24 for second.

If those are the final point totals (Player A: 15 pts; Player B: 1 pt; Player C: 2 pts; Player D: 12 pts), wouldn’t it be like this?

  • Player A gets $28 from Player B, $26 from Player C, and $6 from Player D.
  • Player B gets nothing (and is cool with it).
  • Player C gets $2 from Player B.
  • Player D gets $22 from Player B and $20 from Player C.

Or am I totally missing something here?

I think you’ll definitely be missing some golf buddies after that fleecing! Player B is out $52? That seems crazy.

I’m assuming everyone agreed to the $2 per point before they teed off. And like someone else mentioned, there are other ways to do the payouts. This is just how we would handle it if those were the final results for Wolf (though we usually don’t play for anything close to even a dollar a point—more like quarters, dimes, or nickels, LOL).

The points are just all over the place; I’d love to see the round scores that went with them. Either it was just bad luck, or someone brought lambs to the slaughter
