How I just flushed $660 down the drain

Just bought a rapsodo mlm2 pro last Friday. Been rolling around with it, went to play golf with my FIL today. After the round decide to head back to the range and play with my new toy while he’s settling up the bets. Time to go, start loading the bags into the car. He says he left his keys on the cart so I run back and grab them. Come back, get in the car and leave. Hear a weird thump on our way out but don’t think much of it. Get home and start putting stuff into my car, no launch monitor. Remember that I put it on top of the car while loading the bags and got distracted looking for the keys. Go back out to the golf course, no one’s turned it in, nothing in the parking lot, not on the side of the road. Barely had it for a week.

Drove 50 miles with my new iPhone on the roof of my car. As I was crossing the Hood Canal Bridge in Washington, I looked in my rearview mirror and saw it bounce-bounce into the Hood Canal… insurance paid for a replacement. I think it is called “Coverage for dumb-asses”

@Zinn
I just parked and put my phone on my lap while I got some paperwork out of my centre console. I forgot and opened the door to get out, and my phone slid onto the road.

This fucking jerk veered over and ran over my phone and drove away with his fist out the window pumping the air.

I couldn’t even be mad.

@Andi
If I didn’t know you’d understand, I would never have done it.

@Zinn
Dropped my phone into the greens mower blades while cutting the first green of the day.

Had to spend the rest of the shift in silent shame. No insurance. $800 to buy out the phone and get a new one. It used to be like $100 to fix a screen!

Check your credit card company to see if it has purchase protection for lost/stolen/damaged items.

I’ll call and ask, and if I had used my chase or amex I know I’d have that option. But I put it on my Barclay card since it’s 0% and I’m fairly certain they stopped doing purchase protection some time ago.

@Ty
Just to be clear. You have cards that would have covered this but bought it because of 0%

So you bought something you couldn’t afford, and then lost it.

I’m really sorry my friend. Tough life lesson learned here.

@Toby
I could pay it off right now if I wanted to. But rather than pay over $600 in one go I went the pay 100ish a month same as cash route.

I’m the same way. If somebody is loaning out money for free? Why not take advantage of it.

@Yan
For purchase protections.

One was an accident, the other was a choice

@Toby
Idiot

@Ty
Can’t you just tell your FIL to pay for it?

You was doing him a favor by chasing after his fucking forgotten keys. He couldn’t go back for them himself?
