Got to play Oakmont today. What an experience. Talk about some wild greens lol

The buzz around town is that they’ve been rolling between 16 and 18 the past couple weeks. Fastest they’ve ever gotten them and the members love it.

Our buddy Luke is a member and you’re spot on our caddie said 17. Luke said this is the best time to play and everything is faster and tougher this time of year compared to spring and summer because everything is so firm. And it showed if you could hit the fairways it rolled for miles and the greens were nuts. Think you hit a good shot and all of a sudden it’s off the green or in a damn bunker lol.

@Wade
Does Luke need additional buddies? lol I’ll be in town next weekend :joy:.

Good dude known him since high school. Made a few better decisions than some of us lol but awesome person glad he gave us the chance to play it.

@Wade
We all have that one guy from high school who made way better decisions than the rest of us haha few of us are actually that guy lol.

I can’t imagine loving that… lol that makes any greens with moderate slope nearly impossible if you’re above the hole.

Lee Trevino said that he alone would play best-ball against a foursome of amateurs at Oakmont and win. Lee said he would play from the tips and the foursome would only need to bring their putters. The catch: Trevino would get to pick where he placed their balls on each green!

That’s a cool story!

How many putts?

Can’t count that high lol. String of 3 or 4 pars in a row and a birdie. But I was on the beach all day. So many well-placed bunkers.

Unreal. Hope you enjoyed it! You are the envy of many lol.

It was an awesome experience with the caddie, clubhouse, history of it all, and course itself. Definitely out of our element of the normal courses and players, but awesome. Neal Shipley was two groups behind us playing we watched him come in when we went in for lunch.

@Wade
That’s sick. Is he a member there?

Yeah, he is a member.

Hope you hit that bourbon icy machine.

That place is paradise. I hope you had one (or two) of the adult slushies at the turn!

I was there for the US Open in 2007. On hole 6, VJ Singh had a 10 ft putt for birdie, but he didn’t aim it at the cup. He lined the putt up to go about 25 ft AWAY from the hole and curl back to it. My mind was blown because how in the hell do club members play greens like that, let alone the pros.:drooling_face::face_with_spiral_eyes:

@Montana
Haha yeah it’s pretty insane. My dad went in 07 too I’ll be there next year. I do gotta say the caddies are insanely good. If you can hit it where they tell you to you’re golden. That’s a big if tho lol.
