Got my first birdie today!

(Mods feel free to delete if this doesn’t belong, I’m just really happy with my golf today.)

Bought myself a set of clubs for my birthday this year and forced myself to hit the range at least once a week over the summer - today I played a new course and got my first birdie on a par 5!

Finished out the round my usual ~35 over par, but man that bird was a high I’ll be chasing next season.

Golf can be great sometimes :slight_smile:

Love it! Keep playing, even though the victories get harder. Just shot my record 83 with a 38 on the back last Friday, and I’m still riding the high.

I can’t wait for the day I break 100. 83 is insane! Congrats on a score like that; I won’t quit until my body says so, lol.

@Zev
It happens so fast yet so slow at the same time. I always keep score, but sometimes I don’t care; I’m on the course with my buddy, enjoying one of those few times a week where nothing else matters, including the score! As long as I hit the ball well, I don’t care where it goes.

@Keelan
That’s exactly the mindset I try to have toward golf :). I started using the 18birdies app to track my progress, but honestly, I sometimes forget to enter my score while just enjoying the game with my homie(s), lol.

Come on now. Relish it. We need a play-by-play!

We all remember our first!

I’ll definitely cherish this until next season! I even kept the ball so I wouldn’t lose it on a later hole, haha.

Congratulations! I still remember my first birdie. It took me a couple of years to get it, but I started playing at 5. My dad was more excited than I was.

I appreciate it! My only regret in golf is not starting sooner, lol. It’s definitely one of my favorite ways to test my patience and work on my consistency.

This is terrific! Good for you.

Thank you!

Nice! Keep at it, and you’ll probably get a dozen or more next season and break 100 as well.

Congrats and bravo!!

Would you mind giving us a shot-by-shot rundown of how you made your birdie?

Hit ball, hit ball, hit ball, hit ball. Birdie.

Congratulations!

Congrats on your birdie! Many more will come if you keep at it.

That is awesome! Congrats! And you’ve learned the most important lesson today:

It’s not the 100 strokes we hate that make us quit.

It’s the 1 that keeps us coming back.

I always say that all it takes for me to come back is hitting that one ‘perfect’ shot.

Then, increasing the number/consistency of good shots becomes the goal.

This goal seems to not be achievable for me - so I enjoy trying to achieve it until I just can’t even hit a ball anymore! Golf! - it’s glorious! Enjoy!
