Golf Cart Hack Does This Work

@Alton
I quit my assistant pro job about a year ago. What you call hang-ups from golfers was one reason. I’m tired of entitlement from people who take for granted the work that goes into maintaining the course. I lasted five years, and my respect goes out to those who stay. The survival of these golf courses is key. The ‘customer is always right’ type needs to chill. You’re here for the courses, not above the game; pay for the privilege, not the right.

@Alton
It’s totally a software issue — I’ve seen people stuck on the cart path and then reverse all the way down the fairway to reset the cart.

Happened to me last week. It’s terrible geofencing or just bad software/hardware.

The worst is when you’re barely in a restricted area and it forces you to back up 50 feet to get it to go again, and you have no clue which way to go since it could be any random part of the fairway.

It’s mainly a GPS issue. Plus, there’s overly restrictive staff setting the fenced areas to complete stop, which prevents you from reversing at a normal speed. They don’t consider GPS problems when they set these up.

@Alton
But yes, these restrictions ruin my day. Almost every time, I end up ON THE PATH and have to reverse for no reason. These carts are terrible, and this tech doesn’t work right. Just let me drive the cart.

@Corey
If minor issues glitching the cart spoil your day, you might need some help.

You work at the clubhouse, so don’t tell customers they need help because of these issues.

@Alton
You sound like a lot of fun.

@Alton
I agree with not making things difficult to protect the grass.

Last time, I was driving down the designated path when the restrictions kicked in. I had to reverse slowly down three holes before it stopped. Needed this hack.

An even better hack is to do a quick motor swap to throw a V8 in the cart and lift it by 4 inches when putting in your clubs.

Heard you can sneak in a turbo charger on your beer cooler, and no one will notice.

@Alton
How about a hot dog roller in there too?

Forza: Golf Edition when? I want to race down fairways and drift around digital greens.

Most courses with GPS in their carts can see if you’ve tampered with them, and you will likely be asked to leave or banned if caught.

Good thing I can’t afford a lot of these courses anyway.

Maintaining golf courses is expensive, tedious, and more complex than most think. It involves landscaping, watering, and grass upkeep. There’s a reason for these rules. Don’t be inconsiderate.

I don’t understand the purpose.

The point seems to be “rules are bad, I paid my fee, so I can do whatever I want”

… or something along those lines.

But I don’t even grasp what the rules are here. What’s the benefit of making your cart a marshal cart?

@Tracy
I get it now.

Some newer golf carts come equipped with geofencing, meaning there are specific zones the cart cannot enter. If you try, it will stop and force you to back out.

These settings are set by the golf course using GPS. There is a mode called ‘marshal’ or ‘staff’ or ‘freedom’ mode that bypasses some geofencing to let you drive freely.

Each cart has software that lets the staff track where all carts go and if someone is breaking the rules.

It’s a newer feature that has been gaining popularity recently, and the benefits tend to outweigh the drawbacks.
