Best back 9 of my life, just wanted to share

I’m a 2 handicapper, usually average 4-6 birdies a round but with a lot of bogeys. I don’t make many pars. Lots of birdies and plenty of bogeys… but yesterday in the medal, I birdied 9 out of the last 11 holes. Probably won’t ever do this again.

Stop messing with us, Scottie.

We already know you secretly play munis sometimes wearing a fake mustache.

Haha, was going to post this and saw you already have. Would be amazing if it was a pro golfer.

I wish :smile: just a weekend player who had a hot streak.

Yeah, six birdies in a row is not something a hacker would do.

Oh no, he’s on his way. Time for the good clubs and a professional coach! Next year he’ll be consistently 10 over par.

4 to 6 a round? What the heck. I get 4 to 6 a year.

@Aeron
Short tees or not, birdies are 1 putts. Maybe a great putter and horrible off the tee or something.

@Aeron
Yeah, that’s insane. I’d be thrilled to average 5 birdies. I average around 3.5 this year and am playing some of my best golf.

@Aeron
I drive the ball very well, which helps. My average drive is around 320 yards, and my putter was really good that day.

Normally I hit a few out of bounds.

Makes sense to me.

I have a similar game. If I’m keeping it on the fairway and putting well, I’ll get a good number of birdies.

If either is off, that adds 5-10 strokes to my round.

Your back 9 was insane, but it’s not completely unbelievable. For a good golfer, it’s still more likely than a hole in one, in my opinion.

@Merrill
Yeah, it makes sense when you look at the holes too. Three drivable par 4s, three par 5s, and two holes where you’re hitting a lob wedge into the green. The only hole on that back 9 that someone around scratch wouldn’t expect to birdie is the 178-yard par 3. Going 7/8 is crazy but totally believable for me.

@Darwin
Scratch golfers don’t get 18 pars in a round. There are holes that are tough to par, so you have to birdie the easier ones to make up for it. I’d guess the rating of this course is around 68. A scratch golfer would be expected to shoot -4 to maintain their handicap.

@Aeron
Maybe he’s a long but wild hitter on a course with lots of room.

@Aeron
If I’m playing well, I get 1-2 birdies a round as a 23 handicap. Consistency is the issue for most people.

You see that with longer drivers since they get more birdie opportunities on short par 4s and reachable par 5s.

This gives them a huge advantage because increasing the number of birdies is a lot harder than limiting bad holes to double.

Lol, right? I usually average maybe one every other round. I was 2 under through 5 the other day and thought I was in for the round of my life. Then I bogeyed the next 13 holes. Objectively, the 83 was solid for me, but I just want to break 80 once in my life.

@Reilly
I was trying to break 100 yesterday, started the first 2 holes with 8s… decided it was better to ‘just have fun out there’ instead.

@Reilly
Are you me?
