Are Cobra drivers dependable? Mine broke after a little over a year

I went to the range and tried hitting some golf balls as hard as I could. I’ve only been playing golf for about four months, and I bought my club last year but didn’t have time to use it until this year. I just noticed that the warranty is only one year, and mine broke one month after that period. Is this something that happens often with Cobra drivers, or did I just get unlucky?

From the damage on the crown, it looks like user error. You should only hit the ball with the face.

Just to let you know, I’ve had my LTDx driver for nearly 3 years. I play 9 holes about 4-5 times a week, and my driver still looks new.

It started as a small crack, and then after hitting it again, the whole piece broke off. I usually hit high on the face, so I guess I’m just bad at this. :joy:

Maybe check if Topgolf will sell you one of their drivers. They seem to be pretty solid and almost indestructible.

Just go for an old Titanium Big Bertha from the early 2000s.

Yeah, this club looks like it’s been mistreated.

That club has probably been bouncing around in a cart without a head cover, banging against other clubs.

I treat my Cobra driver carefully, and it’s lasted 4 years.

I’ve had mine for 10 years (I bought it in 2012) and kept my clubs in my trunk or backseat every summer. It’s definitely scratched but has never broken.

Don’t forget about the ball retriever. That thing probably saw a lot of action.

I never put a cover on my driver in the cart, and mine has lasted for 3 seasons. I don’t even hit it perfectly every time. Maybe it was crushed against something for a while in 100F heat?

I take my head cover off on the first tee and put it back on at the 18th. I’ve used the same Nike driver for 15 years.

I’ve seen many people play without a head cover and not break their clubs like this.

I agree, I got mine when it was released. Never had a single issue!

I’ve been using a Radspeed since 2021, hitting range balls and playing at Topgolf, and I’ve had no problems. Hit the club face and they last a long time.

I have the same driver as 3dan01, and I hit it a lot with no problems. It feels solid, likely user error.

Using the LTDx as a beginner, I get great distance and forgiveness. Makes me wonder why anyone would buy a $600 driver.

It’s all marginal, but in 2021-2022 the LTDx was a $600 driver.

I know it cost more when it came out. I’m just saying the LTDx is fantastic, and you can get a 3-year-old model for much less.

I paid $250 for just the head a year after it was released. It’s worth waiting for new releases.

I just ordered an LTDx and can’t wait to use it. I’ve heard great things, and $200 is hard to beat.

Thanks for sharing. I just bought the Aerojet as my first driver. I was worried by this post, but I appreciate the insights!

I think the Aerojet is a great value at $250. Anyone looking for a new driver should consider it.

I got the 50th anniversary edition because I love the black and gold design. My buddy says Cobra is solid, and at $250, it was an easy choice. Can’t wait to try it!
